These days

The past week seems to have disappeared in the blink of an eye and here are some photos I've taken along the way.
Ive been busy getting ready to have the house checked for safety and suitability by family day care. The big check is tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed that it goes well and I get approved. It has not been at all easy trying to get the place how it needs to be for approval. At present Benny's parents have some of their things in the shed of their new house but there is still at least one and a half houses worth of stuff in this little place which means its really tricky to find spots for everything that needs to be put away. The children's sleep room was half full of boxes which I have been working hard to distribute them over the rest of the house. I feel bad about everyone having to do things and move things around for this approval, I'm so thankful it will soon be over. Ive been stressed about it since the day we got the letter saying we had to be out of the old house straight away so it will be a huge weight off my shoulders.
My tea leaves is coming along nicely, not much left to go. Its a bit bigger then I hoped but hopefully it will look nice when its done. At least I can fit a few layers underneath which is quite necessary at the moment
When I go to my naturopath I go past about 10 opp shops on the way. Of course I couldn't go past without stopping in for a quick look... here's a few of my recent favourite finds.

I also got a new pot plant from one of the opp shops, what a surprise! (blogger is still not wanting to put my pics up the right way) You truly never know what will turn up at opp shops

Things have been going quite well with my naturopath and on Monday I even got brave and had some 'propper ' acupuncture rather than the laser version I had been having (I'm scared of needles)
All was well when I had it on my back but when she did my ovaries they were painful. After that I felt sick and drove straight home and went to bed. When I woke up I was talking to Benny's parents in the kitchen and I almost fainted (fell over from being light headed but didn't black out completely) I had cold sweats and went back to bed. I slept until the next morning and then felt completely fine. Has anyone else experienced these side effects from acupuncture? It makes me a bit scared to try it again
On the weekend we went to my friend Sarah's shack. We had such a nice time and the guys went fishing, leaving us on the cozy veranda to have girly chats. This place is so special to me as I've been going to this shack since it was just a foundation in the ground and even helped paint it the first time. I'm truly thankful that Sarah's family have this place and share it with us
This is the magical view, often we have a fire out the front and spot dolphins until the sun goes down. Its pure bliss

  1. The tea leaves is looking great! I've never had acupuncture before, but I've never heard of anyone reacting that way. Hopefully it was a one time thing.

  2. hi love. perhaps it is anxiety/or stress that is the culprit rather than the actual accu. i know lots of people (myself in the bunch) that builds up the cortisone before a dreaded medical visit.. wishing you wellness. x

  3. Hi! Great to see your pics and what you've been up to. I hope the check goes well for you and I have my fingers crossed as well! (Though it may have already happened as I write this, since you might be 12 hours ahead of me or something!) ;)

OK, so - about the acupuncture - I have had LOTS of it over the years from various practitioners(not so much now, but very often before I had kids), and have had various feelings afterwards. I love acupuncture and am amazed by what it does, but it can be powerful, suprisingly so!
...one thing I did experience more than once was a pretty typical 'healing crisis' where I went home and was hit by a fever or rapid illness that came and went very quickly. This may or may not have been what you experienced...but I thought I ought to mention it anyhow.

A healing crisis can happen if you've had something (like a dormant virus or inflammation or something) 'stuck' in there and the acupuncture got your body to a place where it could properly deal with whatever the thing was...sometimes we get a build-up of everyday toxins that is released by the acupuncture and it gets uncomfortable until our bodies flush it out.

Sometimes it's necessary, and sometimes not - and some people are more sensitive than others! I am physically sensitive to a lot of things, and my body tends to react to things other folks might not notice. It makes life more interesting, I suppose, but it's often a bit more intense! ;)

So, what happened may have been healthy and normal. But, by all means, if it feels like something 'wasn't right,' talk to your practitioner about it...you deserve to feel good :)

Take care ~ Hugs from my side of the world :)

  5. Lovely to read this post and catch up on all your news. Best wishes for the inspection and hope all continues to go well at the naturopath. I have never had acupunture so can't help there. What an incredibly beautiful spot you visit by the sea. And to sit and admire that view--wow!

  9. What a dream of a place to visit!
I love the sea, but I live quite far inland so I am only able to visit it once every 4 or 5 years.
    Lovely cardi, too!

  12. Acupuncture can be so powerful. I have had it done a lot--went 3-4 times a week prepartum but I never had an experience like yours. Thinking of you...

  13. I think I like the sound of the 'healing crisis'. sometimes when things have been blocked for so long then it makes sense that you can feel so bad afterwards. I had it with a polarity treatment your mum gave me. If you have any doubts though - ring your naturopath - I'm sure she would like to know about it and she can allay any fears you might have.
My tea leaves is nowhere near as long as yours - yours is looking good :)
    love

  14. Ive been going to acupuncture to heal from the miscarriage. I was wondering if you had tried it. As a natural healing person- I'd say even your fear to try it indicates there is some serious work to be done there. It is powerful and nothing you mentioned sounds out of the ordinary in the bad way. It sounds good. I went in bleeding- when I left I was totally dry and haven't spotted since the first treatment. Each time some very powerful physical and emotional blockages have moved. And- the sleeping, YES! Just follow your bodies lead and be open. I'm a yoga teacher and specialize in conception, pregnancy, birth, motherhood ( and miscarriage)- feel free to email me and chat. Talking about the experience and what comes up during the treatment can be helpful too- so let it all out.

  16. Beautiful cardigan!
Can't wait to see it finished.
Hope everything goes well with your home visit. Moving can be so stressful. Once everything settles down you will really get to enjoy your new environment with the children :)
We having been reading Brambly Hedge too! The Summer story for us though :)
